Regulator confirms Lynn has completed a one-month suspension
The story
The Cricket Regulator has announced that Chris Lynn served a one-month suspension after a positive test following T20 Blast Finals Day.
BBC Sport reports that the former Northants batter’s sample contained benzoylecgonine, a cocaine metabolite. Lynn admitted using cocaine before Finals Day. The regulator’s expert supported his position that the use was out of competition and unrelated to sporting performance.
Suspension already served
The ban ran from July 31 to August 30. Completion of a treatment programme reduced the potential suspension from three months to one.
The announcement concerns a completed disciplinary process, rather than a new suspension beginning now. Lynn had played in Northants’ semi-final and final victories at Edgbaston on July 18.
