Russell plans a detailed review after Antonelli’s title success

The story

George Russell says he wants to examine how he can improve after Mercedes team-mate Kimi Antonelli won the Formula 1 championship.

BBC Sport reports that Russell is looking beyond misfortune to identify which parts of his season could have been managed better. He slipped to fourth in the standings after Mexico City.

Finding the controllable factors

Russell said his team’s analysis showed only six trouble-free events across the first twenty races. Even so, he wants to establish whether every setback was outside his control.

The comparison with Antonelli gives that review urgency. The report records nine wins for the new champion against Russell’s three. Russell’s comments point towards preparation and improvement rather than treating luck as a complete explanation for the gap.
