Gen.G eliminate LYON to book a Worlds semi-final against IG

The story

Gen.G defeated LYON 3–0 at Worlds 2026, ending North America’s participation and setting up a semi-final with Invictus Gaming.

Esports Insider reports that the quarter-final took place in Allen, Texas. Gen.G, the LCK top seed, won without dropping a game and moved within one series of a first Worlds final.

Invictus Gaming stand in the way

IG had already beaten Top Esports 3–1 in the opening quarter-final. Their meeting with Gen.G now decides one place in the championship match.

LYON leave in joint fifth-to-eighth place, which the report describes as the organisation’s strongest Worlds finish. Their elimination means the remaining competition will proceed without a North American representative. The result is a completed series report; the semi-final remains an upcoming match.
