Wembanyama’s 52-point night gives Spurs a one-point win

The story

Victor Wembanyama scored a career-high 52 points as San Antonio edged Dallas 112–111.

BBC Sport reports that Wembanyama made the winning free throw and also finished with 24 rebounds and eight blocks. His previous scoring best had been 50 points.

Production at both ends

The Spurs star reached half-time with 29 points, 15 rebounds and five blocks. Dallas rallied after the interval, but San Antonio held on to improve to 6–2. Kyrie Irving led the Mavericks with 29 points.

The performance combined a scoring milestone with substantial defensive production. Wembanyama said he felt his legs had returned after a period of illness, offering an explanation for how he experienced the game rather than a prediction about future performances.
